Specific Claims

Files within the federal Specific Claims process benefit greatly from our unique holistic experience by combining DEMA’s extensive expertise in anthropology, archaeology, appraisals, agrology, environmental science, and mapping.

DEMA’s Research Team uses multiple sources of information to gather relevant data, including: Elder interviews; archival data; academic literature; local community histories; newspapers; the Indian Lands Registry System; and more. DEMA has experience in many provinces and is aware of both provincially organized information such as the provincial archives and land titles systems, and the federally run Indian Lands Registry System and Library and Archives Canada.
